We have a minimum of two teachers per class , so all students get enough attention . Therefore students can join any time. Any week , students simply book their spots, the day they want to attend.
Courses are broken up into four module courses , Beginners , Intermediate 1 , Intermediate 2 and advanced . Each course is eight lessons long , each lesson is three hours long.
Sure, The beginners course is a really solid introduction to sewing. The first thing we do is fill in your registration form (if not done online), issue you with your manual and introduce you to a sewing machine. We teach you how to thread your machine, clean your machine and roll your bobbin.
You are then give your practise exercises fabric. You will practise how to sew straight, curves, turn a corner etc.
You will then go on to do your four seams samples. We then do a fabric fondling lecture, where we issue you with fabric swatches and teach you all about different fabrics and their appropriate uses.
Thereafter the student binding samples, very important in sewing.
The student then goes on to learning how to trace and read patterns.
Then the student has to complete two projects:
- Project 1 – Making a dress or a top out of a woven fabric (non-stretch)
- Project 2 – Making a dress or a top out of a stretch fabric.
The student then graduate the course and is issued with an ATTENDANCE certificate.
Well Done!!!
No, not for beginners course, if you have a machine, bring it along, better to get to know your personal machine BUT, if you don’t have a machine, please don’t buy one before you chat to us first, we very much like to advise students on the best affordable options and brands. There’s nothing worse than spending all your sewing time trying to get your machine going or rethreaded.
